small spectacles... an insight into the works of Ashim Ghosh, AUDIOVISIONARY multiple media artist from New Delhi, INDIA

The artist will present the following : * Studio Stories - celebrating the Indian photo studio... (a video shot in 1999) * Home Street Home - images of poverty * meta-grapple & twiddle (a video shot in Singapore in 2003) * The Missing Ling - images of the impact of masculinity
Ashim Ghosh is a multiple media artist who represents a broad range of expertise and experience, with interventions spanning photography, photo-archiving, soundscape, video and live music performance. He is one of India's contemporary photographers, having exhibited widely, nationally and internationally. He has collaborated with a wide range of artists, musicians and dancers, creating works with contemporary foci. He also straddles the international corporate world by producing and directing communication modules and undertaking change oriented corporate training. His artistic concerns are regarding the current state of the world, as he hangs on to his sense of humour in these dark times.

We are organizing 2 residencies this year. 4-5 artists will participate in each residency programme.
Duration: 6 weeks 1. Mid August- end september 2003 2. Early Novmeber - Mid December 2003.
Costs KHOJ will charge a total amount of Rs 35,000/- (US $ 730/-) for accommodation and studio rent for the period of 6 weeks. In addition you would require a minimum of Rs 10,000/- ( US $ 200/- ) towards food and local transportation Rs 10,000/-( US $200/-) towards cost of materials and your return airfare.
Studios An individual studio will be provided to each artist which is about 5 kms form the KHOJ guesthouse. The studios are situated in an urban village . We facilitate arrangements with local photography labs, editing studios and other institutions if required and on request.
Accomodation You will be provided accomodation at the KHOJ office - cum - guesthouse premises which is a 3 bedroom flat ( with attatched baths) in a central part of New Delhi. There is a small kitchen with cooking facilities and a 24 hour housekeeper. Situated behind a commercial market, it has several restaurants, transportation facilities and great markets!
Outreach A small exhibition /open studio of work done during the residency will be organized at the end of the residency period. We shall organize one or two lectures in established art institutions in the city so do bring slides/videos of your work and those of your contemporaries to share with us. If you would like to work on a particular project with a particular community please be in touch immediately so that we can make arrangements and see what would be possible. The residency will be documented in the KHOJ catalogue which is brought out annually. Copies of the same will be made available to you for your record.

GRAFFITI @ THE SK8TS
ROMEO & JULIET 2010
Catch one of the biggest mural production being done by graffiti artists on the 15th and March 2003. Operation Art Core will be doing this production together with upcoming and aspiring graff crews and solo artists ("AMC", "Artforze", "STG", "LLP", "Sandman", "Kaze") and many others. Also catch some live performances by our local emcees and bboys. This graffiti session is part of the Romeo & Juliet set organized by Dramaplus Arts & Youthopia!.
If you are aged between 12-25, you can also grab the mic and rap your ass out in our video booth. The best MC verses will be played on a giant screen during the play.
Show starts at 11am till 6pm.
