Gajah Gallery & Museum Widayat ARTSingapore 2002 Oct 11-15 Suntec City Hall 402 Booth A20/25 Oct 11-14: 11am - 8pm Oct 15: 11am - 5pm For enquries: 6737 4202 Gajah Gallery is proud to be working in conjunction with the Museum Widayat at ARTSingapore 2002, to present this rare exhibition of works never before displayed outside Indonesia. Widayat’s endeavor for the simplification and abstraction of reality and nature has had a profound influence on many Indonesian artists. Inspired by his local surroundings, his fantastical and decorative style is a personal visual language. His work focuses on capturing the essence and inner structure of objects rather than their outward appearance. Using the repetition of basic symbols and shapes, Widayat creates rhythm and moves the eye through the painting. The overall impression is abstract, but not formally so as one can still differentiate a subject, whether human, animal, or other organic details. Along with the masterworks of Haji Widayat from the Museum, Gajah Gallery will be presenting an excellent selection of exquisite works from Vietnam, India, Indonesia and Singapore. We look forward to seeing you at the fair soon!
