Deadlines. Debts. Discontent. Demands. Four walls closing in on you. You know how you always feel nowadays – oppressed by the daily grind, trapped by a never-ending spiral of financial worries and unfulfilled expectations. Fear not, master printmaker, artist and social commentator Chng Seok Tin will articulate your concerns for you. In an extensive installation of suspended figures in metal enclosures and chopstick frames on the floor, her audience will negotiate the awkward passage between wire and wood, mirroring the omnipresent dilemma we face in society of remaining within the OB markers that have been delineated for us, or breaking free of our barriers, only to enter an unpredictable future. On the walls, dark drawings of geometric shapes echo the frames of the installation, making visible the metaphorical constraints that shadow our continued existence.
