“TIGA” - The Exhibition
18 September 2004 – 9 October 2004

Gallerie Dua Lapan is proud to present “TIGA” – The Exhibition. After a hiatus of two years, this will be the group third exhibition since its first inauguration show at the Fullerton in 2002. TIGA features three Singaporean artists; Rosihan Dahim, Sunar Sugiyou and Adi Yadoni whom amongst them had indulged in the art scene for the past three decades. The three artists represent the three divisions of time - past, present and future in terms of their depiction of daily life and its circumstances with their different styles and techniques.

The exhibition which also marks the opening of the gallery will feature different works not shown from the previous TIGA exhibition, with the exception of Rosihan, known for his “oversized matchstick “depicting human characters, who will showcase a retrospective of his few earlier surrealist paintings that reveal and transport the physical into the realms of our future. Sunar having blossomed in his Chinese ink painting techniques will feature his new scroll ink paintings of cock-fighting series. His robust brushworks have enticed many to the aggressiveness of the cock-fighting. Adi continues to explore on the notion of conflicting identities and cultural integrations in his works. Uniting both contradictions Adi enabled to reconcile differences and opposites in the world of appearance in his latest series of works.

The three artists were also involved in the “Friends of Bali” charity show at Zouk in aid of the Bali bomb victims in 2003, and were invited to auction their paintings live in a gala event at the Regent Hotel. Performance live art has been included in most of their opening shows. This added discipline has created a different dimension in their arts while engaging the audience. The art performance is aim to enlighten and pique interest within the artistic community.

TIGA continues and develop art pieces that address the cultural and social patterns from within. With these exhibits, they create an intriguing record, in significant details, of our ever-changing world.
