Do you have a seat? Let’s reserve a seat for you.

“Chope-A-Seat” is a collaborative effort by 5 young artists,

Joey Soh Peiling, Koh Xueting, Tomoko Okuno, Zheng Xu Peng

and Tan Chui Min, who want to “chope” a seat in the art scene.

Everywhere we go, we will take a seat, just for the purposes

of sitting. We take a seat as a transitional process to enjoy

a musical, a meal or even a chat.

The theme of our exhibition revolves around the idea of a Chair

or Seat. It drives both the artists and viewers alike to consider

their thoughts within the narrow proscribed theme. It is a project

that taps on the well of resourcefulness and collaborative

ingenuity that every young artist possesses.

There are so many determined 'facts' about chairs…. But such facts are trivial. Instead of limiting ourselves to this definition, the notion of “chair” will be infused into our artistic language as we see the potential in engaging this theme in our artworks.
