Organs for Trade & Fruit of Knowledge
By Daphne Chan
Singapore

"Organs For Trade" explores human's search for perfection and identity.

WHAT UTOPIA CAN TECHNOLOGY BRING? (Part 1)

It's the story about a journey taken by three hideous puppets, who are stricken by poverty and diseases. Plagued by the costs of war and the perils of nuclear power, they are determined to set themselves free from the sufferings, which they have endured for years.

WHAT UTOPIA CAN TECHNOLOGY BRING? (Part 2)

The tale of The Fruit of Knowledge speaks of the relationships between an anthropomorphised machine and the human body. It is a continuation of Organs for Trade. The story presents itself into two levels of interpretations:
Contact And Destruction and Birth And Resurrection.

Stranger than Dreams
By Hyun-Mi Yoo
Korea

Depicting a scene from an abstruse poem, shared by a dream, in which float sculptures featuring the likeness of supernatural creatures, Hyun-Mi Yoo's work is a conscious exploration of the unconscious, airy realm of desire. Symbolising desires of all sorts, from the exquisite lightness of a giant feathered dress and chairs to a torso-like birdcage, Yoo's 'bodies' levitate before our eyes.

Asian Traffic
By Koky Saly, Leung Mee Ping, Michael Shaowanasai, Renee So, Owen Leong, Manit Sriwanichpoom, Sangeeta Sandrasegar, Mahmoud Yekta, Emily Chua and Michael Lee Hong Hwee
Cambodia, Thailand, china, Iran, India, Taiwan, Singapore and Autralia

Like a traffic jam in any Asian metropolis, this exhibition illustrates the destiny and extent of contemporary art that is being produced today. Through its mix of artists from the region, Asian Traffic is a showcase of Asian culture and thought as contemporary, diverse and in a constant state of evolution.

The Asian Traffic stopover in Singapore and its subsequent tour to different cities in China incorporates key strategies that aim to further extend the Asian Traffic exhibition concept. At each international venue that the exhibition travels to, a local component will be injected.

Asian Traffic is an ambitious and innovative programme of contemporary Asian art instigated by the Asia-Australia Arts Centre Sydney and presented as an official parallel event of the 2004 Biennale of Sydney.

Supported by the Australia International Cultural Council, an initiative of the Department of Foreign affairs and Trade

Puzzled Cloud
By Hyun-Mi Yoo
Korea

Reality and dream, or the conscious and the unconscious, are not opposites like the front and the back or the real and the unreal. Crossing between the worlds of reality and dreams, the conscious and the unconscious, the past and the present, form and the formless, disintegration and integration, and structure and images, Hyun-Mi's Puzzled Cloud presents a monologue of this chaotic process.
Supported by the Korea Culture & Arts Foundation.

Ephemeral Homes
By Terence Lin and Chai Chee Seam
Singapore

Ephemeral Homes was conceived to transform the Concourse Pillars into a metaphorical urbanscape of imaginative buildings with interior spaces that bear a resemblance to our local public housing. A peek into these embroidered "open" windows of different colours and motifs will reveal our shared aspiration for a "perfect home" through good times and bad. It offers a glimpse into some of these beautiful homes, imagined and reconstructed.

Don't Let Sleeping Androids Lie
By Lulu Ong, Damien Lock, Brian Gothong Tan, Gary Lim and Kennth Chee

The exhibition is part of the Singapore Arts Festival and will also feature a collaboration with the Mixed Reality Lab, National University of Singapore.

Floating Dream
By Hyun-Mi Yoo

Korea Everyone dreams of flying, but few dream as specifically, and as intensely, of flight as Hyun-Mi Yoo. Ever since childhood, her nocturnal fantasies have revolved around flying; weightless like a balloon, the artist finds herself floating up near the ceiling, like those silver pillows in the famous pop-artist Andy Warhol's Silver Clouds.

Supported by the Korea Culture & Arts Foundation.
