You are invited to the opening preview and reception of Paradise Revisited a solo painting exhibition by Martin Loh Thursday 9th January 2003 7.30 pm Utterly Art Exhibition Space 208 South Bridge Road 2nd Level, Singapore 058757 Tel: 6226 2605 E-mail: utterlyart@pacific.net.sg Mon-Sat 11.30 am - 8 pm Sun 12 noon - 5.30 pm The exhibition runs through to 19th January. In the Beginning, Paradise was in the Garden of Eden. Then Eve bit of the forbidden fruit, contaminated Adam along the way, and together with a serpent, we all slithered downhill from there. Mankind was mired in sin, some of it original, most of it repetitively derivative. The exhibition Paradise Revisited seeks to reclaim a lost vision of blissful innocence. From the wellsprings of artist Martin Loh’s fancy emerges a paradisiacal vision containing no moral dilemmas, where inhabitants simply follow the calling of their heart. They live a life of plenty and of pleasure, according to their whims and natural urges. As with Eden, the setting is lush, colourful and exotic, and the populace celebrates a positive, carefree existence, plagued not with the shadow of guilt.
