Artist Feature
Wilkie Tan

A member of the Artist Village, Wilkie returned from undergraduate studies at the Slade School of Fine Art, London in 1999. He is known for founding and mangaging the YARD, the Young Artist's Domain.

Wilkie works mainly with video, film and multimedia. He has previously shown his works at Bloomsbury Theatre (London), Institute of Contemporary Art (London), London Electronic Arts (LUX) and Kunst-und Medienzentrum Adlershof, Berlin. Wilkie has shown his short films at Cardiff International Animation Festival, Leeds International Film Festival and Singapore International Film Festival.

Wilkie has collaborated with other artists, and has installed works at Plastique Kinetic Worms, The Substation and various outdoor spaces. His works deal with the themes of reality, memory, change and tension, which are apparent in his outdoor site-specific video installations at Thian Hock Keng Temple (Nokia Art-Singapore: Deriving Spaces) and Raffles Landing Site (Artists Investigating Monuments).
