Founded in 2004, The Other House is a point along the journey of life where
inquisitive minds meet. The analogies are that of a tent and a guesthouse, where
visiting artists gather, play, and rest.
Dennis Tan is the founder and the Housekeeper of The Other House. He is an
interdisciplinary artist who is trained in Fine Art in Singapore and
Architecture in Australia. In deciphering the contempory, he uses the process of
bricolage. He is an installation, a performance artist, and a writer.
Foo Aiwei is the co-founder of The Other House. Born in Sarawak, Malaysia; she
was trained in Fine Art in Singapore and then went to Australia and founded a
fashion label, 'mu'. She is an interdisciplinary artist who uses her knowledge
of Fashion Merchandising. She writes, and uses text and font in her works.
Yang Ge, also known as Younger, is the other co-founder of The Other House. Born
in Shanxi, China in 1981, he has experienced the Policies Reform in China. He is
a multi-media artist.
Teresa Teo Guttensohn is The Other Housemate. A performance artist and a
painter, she received her Bachelor of Fine Arts from Nanyang Academy of Fine
Arts and recently showed at Substation's SeptFest.
Annabelle Felise Aw is the current administrator for The Other House. Trained in
Visual Communications from Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts, she is pursuing Art
Management with LaSalle-SIA College of the Arts.
Rutherford Chang and Emily Chua, the latest Other Housemates, are artists
engaged with the mass media. Rytherford has attended the liberal arts college
Wesleyan at Connecticut, United States.
Other Other Housemates from overseas who have gathered are: Seiji Shimoda and
Takuji Kogo (Japan), Boris Nieslony (Germany), Dao (French/Thailand), John Mata
and Monica Jdyer (United States), Jim Prevett (United Kingdom), and Paul Bai
(Australia).
