Tan Kian Por

Born in China, 1949

Singapore's top award for the arts went to a China-born artist yesterday at an annual presentation ceremony held at Shangri-la Hotel. Ink-and-brush painter and calligrapher TAN Kian Por, was the winner of this year's Cultural Medallion Awards. He joins 74 other artists who have received the medal since it was launched in 1979.
