TGV is an interactive digital media work focused on the idea of movement – translating audio movements into visual movements, and TGV is an interactive digital media work focused on the idea of movement – translating audio movements into visual movements, and visual movements into audio movements. Developed by creative guerrilla group, the2ndrule, the artwork is an interactive space that allows performers and the audience to generate audio and video works through the movement and sounds that they produce, by combining proprietary technologies for sound-reactive video and video-reactive sound in a dual installation. The TGV installation not only stands alone as interactive space, but also lends itself to myriad collaborations with performance-based artists.

Tale of One: The marriage of technology and art

For the performance designed in collaboration with dance group Bix, the2ndrule and Bix worked together to customise the interactive space to allow dancers to control the soundscape generated through their choreographed movements, with the choice of sounds appropriate to the style and tone of the performance. “Tale of One” defies conventions of music, dance and performance, resulting in a frontier-smashing collaborative performance with both "conventional" segments, in which dancers move in choreographed fashion to accompanying music, and "interactive" segments, in which dancers, through their movements in the TGV space, control the music and sounds being generated, which in turn affect the choreography of the other dancers.

Performances of ~50min begin at 8.30pm on Thurs 20th, 21st and 22nd May 2004.
