In Sync with the Arts
ART - Singapore art spanning three generations, from the '40s to the '90s will go on a four-month-long exhibition tour of China and Hongkong later this month. A total of 57 paintings in different media and styles - from traditional Chinese ink-andbrush paintings to modern works of abstract art in collage and acrylic - by 31 Singapore artists will be shown during the tour of seven Chinese cities. The tour begins in Beijing this month and ends in Hongkong in July. Among the 31 artists from three generations of Singapore painters, seven are late pioneer artists which include Cultural Medallion winner Georgette Chen and Chen Chong Swee. Modern painters include Tang Mun Kit, Vincent Leow and Tang Da Wu. The exhibition tour, Window on Singapore Art, cost the National Arts Council and National Museum nearly $180,000 to organise.
