Heman Chong aka NoSleepRequired is a graphic designer who has worked
closely with local theatre companies, art establishments and artists,
including The Necessary Stage, Theatre OX, Spell #7, Asia-In-Theatre
Research Centre and The Substation.

His portfolio includes publicity and editorial design for TNS productions -
October (1996), Rosnah (1996), Pillars (1997) and a series of fund raising
cards entitled The Last Word for their 10th Anniversary. Design work for
The Substation includes - Music Space '97, Identity Design for Substance,
Italian Film Festival '98, and most recently, Tang Da Wu's Jantung Pisang
in New Criteria 7. As a photographer for Spell #7, Heman has taken
publicity and stage photos for Bud (1999) and SpringAwakening (1999) and
Later (1999). His recent collaborations with Asia In Theatre Research
Centre includes publicity design for If They should come in the Night...
(1999) and designing the CD package for Ankara's second album, The Gateless
Gate (1999).

Heman's photographic and video works reflects a deep interest in urban
existentalism and social psychology. Early works presented in Flickering
Punctuations (1997) at the Substation Gallery explores the relationships
and systems between the human body and architecture. LastCall (1999), an
imaginary mnemonic travelogue was published in conjunction with an
DepartureHall (1999) an installation at the Substation Gallery. Molotov
Cocktails (1999) is a triptych video installation that deals with the
notion of mindlessness in daily corporate work routine. It was first
presented at BrainStorm by The Necessary Stage at The Singapore Art Museum,
and subsequently as (GreyAquariumRemix)Molotov Cocktails (1999) as part the
Curated Section in the Nokia Singapore Art 1999 at The Singapore Art
Museum.
